IAF Group X And Y Syllabus 2020: Exam Pattern
Like many Defence Exams conducted, this exam will include three stages for the final selection of the candidates as tabulated below. Each of the tests will have to be qualified separately in order to be eligible to work as an Airmen Group X, Y Category of the IAF. Air Force Group X includes the Technical Trade while Group Y includes the Non-Technical Trade. The IAF Group X, Y Exam Pattern is given below.

IAF Group X, Y Exam Pattern For Phase I
As per Air Force Group X,Y Notification, Phase I or Online Written Test of IAF Group X,Y Exam Pattern will have the following sections as mentioned below. It will be conducted at an allotted Centre. The syllabus will be based on 10+2. The online test will be objective type and questions will be bilingual (English & Hindi) except for English paper. Online test for candidates opting for both Group X&Y shall be conducted in one sitting, on the same system.

Marking Scheme For Air Force Group X, Y Exam
(i) One mark for every correct answer.
(ii) Nil (0) marks for unattempted questions.
(iii) 0.25 marks shall be deducted for each wrong answer.
IAF Group X, Y Syllabus 2020
The Indian Air Force Group X, Y Syllabus comprises of the following four subjects. The syllabus is common for the technical (Group X) and non-technical group (Group Y).

English is common for IAF Group X, Y both. Therefore it is important that the candidates know the syllabus of English. It will be pretty scoring in nature for both the groups.

IAF Group X, Y Physical Fitness Test
Soon after the declaration of the result of Phase-I (Online) Test, a cut off will be applied based on the
marks scored by the candidates in the Phase I Test and SHORTLISTED candidates will be sent a new
admit card on their Registered e-mail ID for phase – II test at an Airmen Selection Centre. The following tests will be conducted once a candidate qualifies the written stage of the exam.

IAF Group X, Y Medical Fitness Test
The candidates qualifying the PFT will be issued a medical appointment letter at respective ASCs. Medical Examination shall be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards and policy in vogue on the subject issue.
A medical examination would also include a baseline investigation of:-
(a) Blood Haemogram – Hb, TLC, DLC
(b) Urine RE/ME
(c) Biochemistry :- (i) Blood Sugar Fasting & PP (ii) Serum Cholesterol (iii) Urea, Uric acid, Creatinine (iv) LFT—Serum Bilirubin, SGOT, SGPT
(d) X-Ray chest (PA view)
(e) ECG (R)
(f) Tests for Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance Abuse.
(g) Any other test necessary in the opinion of the Medical Officer
